With disguises and anonymity all part of the fun we encourage you to unmask your mystery and immerse yourself in the festivities. Read below for some of our favourites...
Doge’s Palace Creepy Tour in Venice
Steeped in history, make sure you don’t miss this sight in Venice when you go, where the harrowing attic prison and dark dungeons make spines shiver! Rumour has it the famous lover Casanova was imprisoned here before he made a dash for it!
It’s not all scary stuff, you can admire stunning Venetian gothic architecture, which inspires our iconic Hidden Mask collection and renaissance masterpieces hang on the walls. Click here to shop our Hidden Mask collection.
You’ll find yourself back on Piazza San Marco as you leave, so warm up with a lavish treat from our favourite people-watching spot – Caffé Florian. The hot chocolate with mint is a must!
Halloween at home
For those of us staying at home for Halloween this weekend, bombarded by plastic decorations, paper plates and penny sweets – it doesn’t have to be like this! We’ve put together our favourite ideas for a rather more sophisticated Hallow’s Eve…
Fill an ornate vase or jar with traditional humbug pillow sweets – a striking monochrome look and most traditional sweet shops will have these. You could mix in aniseed twists for a flash of orange too!
See those pumpkins in the high street stores that are looking a bit sad? Grab them, along with some metallic, glitter or maybe even black (matte black looks amazing) spray paint. Do it in the garden on a dry day with some newspaper and a decorators mask (fetching!). It gives a gorgeous, sleek effect and lets your guests enjoy an alternative pumpkin display! Go crazy and nip to a craft shop for some sequins, pins and more if you really want to impress!
Now the night just wouldn’t be our style without a coordinated cocktail…or two. So here’s our favourites:
Black Devil Martini
An easy one for rookies but not for the faint-hearted! 60ml of your favourite dark rum plus 15ml dry vermouth. Stir (or shake) into a chilled martini glass and serve with black olives. You can add brown sugar (orange if you can find it) and egg whites to the rim for an added wow factor!
So sweet – but if you can’t binge on sugar at Halloween when can you? 50ml spiced rum (we recommend Bacardi Oakheart), 2 teaspoons soft brown sugar, 15ml apple juice and a dash of angostura bitters. Stir into a tall glass and gradually add crushed ice until full, or to taste.
Finally, your outfit. As hostess, you should be comfortable, but glamorous! We love this little black Topshop midi dress with a plunge neckline and mesh & lace detail on the back.
Our Résille necklace in oxidised is the perfect addition – shop here and of course, the signature piece of any sophisticated costume – our mask.
Have a great weekend and enjoy your Halloween celebrations!
